Professor Olinga Ta’eed appointed as Chairman of EU SEiSMiC Social Value Group

Professor Olinga Ta’eed, Director of the Centre for Citizenship, Enterprise and Governance at the University of Northampton, has recently been appointed as the Chairman of the EU SEiSMiC (Societal Engagement in Science, Mutual Learning in Cities) Social Value Group.

About 100 participants gathered at the Théâtre du Vaudeville in Brussels, a historic landmark and representatives included all SEiSMiC project partners, members of the European Commission andJPI Urban Europe, and network partners from the project countries. The network partners represented civil society organisations, schools and universities, municipalities, businesses and more. All came to discuss opportunities for trans-national cooperation in urban social innovation.

Professor Ta’eed commented: “To see these key stakeholders across Europe take such a great interest in our work in Social Value, pioneered at the Centre for Citizenship, Enterprise and Governance, was flattering. Recognition by your peers across the continent, not just in the UK, provides us with a unique platform to make significant contribution to societies outside our own country.”
