Cyclists set off on Belgian adventure for Northampton homeless charity

Fifty riders set off from Park Campus this morning (Thursday 6 July) for a gruelling sponsored cycle ride to Belgium in aid of a Northampton charity.

The fourth annual Ride 4 Hope will see the cyclists ride 225 miles to Ypres to raise funds for the Hope Centre homeless charity.

The ride is being led by Senior Lecturer at the University, Adrian Pryce, who is also chairman of the Hope Centre.

He said: “Ride 4 Hope has grown year on year and now represents one of the biggest fundraising events of the year for the Hope Centre. We’re absolutely delighted that Ride 4 Hope 2017 is set to be another record-breaking event, with 50 riders making the journey across three countries, covering over 225 miles each.

“On behalf of the team at the Hope Centre, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of the riders, those who have generously donated, the support team, including those who will supply much needed food and water to fuel our riders, and of course, the team from Pidy UK, who not only help to organise the event, but take part and raise money year on year.”

The Hope Centre aims to help people who have fallen on hard times and need extensive support and encouragement to rebuild their lives. More than 100 people every day are cared for in the Hope Centre day centre, in Campbell Street. The Hope Centre relies on the support and generosity of the local community – individuals, schools, churches/faith groups, sports, social clubs and local businesses, to keep providing the range of services it offers to people in need – and whose number are growing.
