BBC cameras get a Snap shot of Reading Festival

A triumphant performance at the Reading Music festival by a University of Northampton-affiliated hip hop collective has been caught on camera by the BBC.

Ginger Snaps are led by Northampton graduate Jay Brook and feature Popular Music graduate Stacey Pierre and undergraduate Nicole Obiefuna, on backing vocals.

They played sets at the Reading & Leeds festivals, and their performance of new song Anorak is featured on the BBC Music website – watch it below.

Reflecting on the weekend, Nicole said: “For my first experience of camping and being at a festival I felt so grateful to be performing at Reading. The atmosphere and weather were amazing and even though it at some points it got so uncomfortable and overwhelming it’s something I will never be able to forget.

“Performing on the stage with my friends in front of the festival crowd was one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced and I hope I get to do it again someday.”

Stacey said: “The whole experience was incredible. It was my first festival, both performing and attending – I even camped for the first time. I also had the amazing opportunity of watching my friends Will and AJ, who also went to the uni, from the band SURGE perform just before our set at Reading. The whole thing was actually quite surreal. The response from the audience at both festivals was fantastic, it was great to see so many people enjoying our music just as much as us.”
