Help town’s community radio station bid for silver surfing training fund

The University’s community radio station for Northampton is launching a bid to use the web to help elderly people connect with the community.

NLive wants to run fun training courses to introduce older people to all things online.

New station manager, Shelly Hensley-Stevenson, pictured, said: “Social media and the internet are great tools for reaching out to people, especially if your mobility is not great.

“But if you are not used to Facebook and Twitter, or have never blogged, it can seem like there are endless new things to learn before you begin to get to know people online.

“We want to take the pain out of that with fun and friendly courses to introduce people to the web and all its wonders.”

The station has put in a bid to the Aviva Community Fund and needs your votes to help secure funding for the courses.
