BBC Rock Show DJ to tell students tales of touring, Radio 1 and outer space

The Radio 1 DJ who co-wrote a song broadcast in outer space will be lifting the lid on his career in music to University of Northampton students.

Daniel P Carter, who fronts the BBC station’s Rock Show, composed the guitar parts for McFly’s 2006 number one hit, Star Girl, which was played to astronauts orbiting the Earth on the international space station, by NASA.

A musician in his own right, Daniel currently plays with heavy metal super group Krokodil and is singer and guitarist for hardcore punk outfit, Hexes.

He’s also interviewed some of the biggest names in rock, including Metallica and Linkin Park.

Daniel will be appearing on campus on Thursday 8 February, in a closed-doors Q&A session with students.

The talk is just one of a series of special events lined up by the Popular Music department during Changing Futures Week – a five-day University wide showcase of industry speakers.
