Margaret Bates, Professor of Sustainable Wastes Management at the University of Northampton, was live on Sky News on Sunday. She was giving her expert opinion on the Prime Minister’s call for countries to unite and tackle the issue of plastic pollution in the oceans. (Clip not available)

Uno driver Steve Fitzpatrick’s last day on the buses was covered by the Chronicle & Echo. He’s been driving buses in Northampton for 39 years, and received some special surprises on his last-ever route.

The University featured in an NFU Countryside magazine article about a young duo who have started up a micro-tannery with the goal of boosting the UK leather industry. Billy Tannery, which proclaims itself as the UK’s first entirely British kid leather brand and the first company to source all of its goat hides from Britain, has received a lot of help from leather industry experts, including the University of Northampton (no link available).

Ground staff at the University recently teamed up with St Andrew’s Healthcare to offer patients the opportunity to gain work experience. The story was covered by the Chronicle & Echo.

The University of Northampton wants to build strong links between local businesses and China’s next gen automotive industry. The University’s China and Emerging Economies Centre (CEEC) is hosting a free event named ‘Doing Business in China‘ at the Park Campus on the evening of 19 April. The Northants Chamber shared the story.

Two of our Fashion Marketing students, Emily and Aimee, appeared on the Stuart Linnell’s show on BBC Radio Northampton (from 1.22.21) as they prepared for the Modern Masquerade, a student-ran charity fashion event.

Ebenezer Laryea, Senior Law Lecturer at University of Northampton joined John Griff on his BBC Radio Northampton programme (from 1.38.39). He comments on working with Law students on a charity to send second-hand and ‘unwanted’ books to a primary school in Ghana – and dedicated a song for the weekend show.
