The University of Northampton’s new Waterside campus was mentioned in a recap article of the Higher Education Estates Forum. The campus was praised for factoring in how the environment affects wellbeing, by creating ‘future-proof’ spaces – creating more shared workspaces and abolishing the idea of a traditional office to create a more learning-focused environment. Larissa, a student from the University of Northampton, spoke to Annabel Amos on BBC Radio Northampton. Larissa, who has suffered from depression and anxiety, has started an online mental health blog called ‘Live Your Movie’ and urges people to talk more openly about mental health. Listen from 1:25

Dr Mairi Watson, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at the University, took part in a women’s fashion feature for the Daily Mail online – as they asked six women to compare the styles of M&S’ new summer range.

For the 17th year, Schwarzkopf Professional salon Hensmans in Northampton has collaborated with the University of Northampton Fashion and Textile students. As Salon Business reports, this year they have worked with the second-year students and gave them a brief back in January of creating a clothing collection based on Schwarzkopf Professional’s Spring Summer 18 Essential Looks: Reinventing Hair.

A former University of Northampton student went back to her roots, as she launched a project to help youngsters achieve their dreams and inspired pupils to aim high. Hannah Zemzam, 25, is crowdfunding to raise £10,000 to organise a “huge youth motivation event” in 2019, the free opportunity including guest speakers, youth charities, music, and talent spotters. Three footwear designers from the University of Northampton are in the running for a clutch of prestigious awards. Footwear & Accessories undergraduates Nicholas Fowler-Ekar, Hallie Lonsdale and Melissa Francis have all been shortlisted for a Drapers Footwear Award and will also be battling it out for the Cordwainer Footwear Student of the Year title. The organisers of this year’s Northampton Music Festival have announced details of the acts which will play at this year’s event. The festival returns to Northampton town centre on Sunday, June 18, and will feature a range of genres and dozens of acts. Students from the University of Northampton will be playing at The Platform in George Row from midday until 7pm. As reported by the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

A University of Northampton student has bagged a prestigious logistics award and a graduate job at a major UK logistics company all in a matter of weeks. Charlene Turpin, who recently completed an MSc in International Logistics, was awarded the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Student Award at the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards (NLAs) and a graduate job at Clipper logistics. Students at the University of Northampton were given an extra special incentive to succeed in a recent assignment, courtesy of Carlsberg. Thomas Shanley, Finance Business Partner for Carlsberg UK, who have its UK headquarters in Northampton, gave a talk to MSc students in both Finance & Accounting and Corporate Governance about its global business strategy, SAIL’22. An ingenious concept which transforms a bus shelter into a smart solution to help the homeless has earned a creative student a coveted design award. The Hub, which has been devised by University of Northampton Graphic Communication undergraduate Taylar Wong, aims to connect homeless people with the digital world via the advertising screens commonly found on London’s bus shelters. The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, James Saunders-Watson, addressed MBA students at the University of Northampton in a special guest lecture. James, a senior banker with JP Morgan and owner of Rockingham Castle, shared his experiences as an MBA student and provided advice from over 35 years in business at a special event for first and second year MBA students.
