Visitor Parking

The University has limited parking for visitors at:

  • Waterside (car park two NN1 5PH) – spaces are limited to visitors attending on University business.
  • The Development Hub (NN1 5FS) – pre booking via the form below is advised due to limited spaces.
  • The Sixfields Park and Ride (The Claret NN5 5JR) – pre-booking is not required and ample spaces available.

Waterside and the Development Hub

Visitor parking at Waterside and the Development Hub can be booked by the University host or by the visitor and must be done at least 24 hours prior to arrival:

To book parking, complete the online form. The form requires submission of visitor details, vehicle registration, the University host details, the date and duration of the visit and details of any valid Blue Badge. If you are volunteering at the University, please contact the Parking team by email parking@northampton.ac.uk for more information on reduced parking charges.

The request will be approved or denied depending on the spaces available and the visitor will receive an email with the relevant information for either scenario.

If you are attending a group meeting, it is likely your host will ask you for parking information. In this instance, you will receive guidance for parking directly from them.

If parking at the Development Hub, it is imperative you go directly to reception to sign in once you have parked.

Payment is required on arrival for all visitors, except those with a valid Blue Badge. Please use the on-site payment machines (card only) or RingGo facility (24700).

Park and Ride (Sixfields)

Pre-booking is not required at the Park and Ride (NN5 5JR), visitors can arrive as required. There is ample free parking available from Monday – Friday only (no weekend parking).

Parking is free with a fee just required for the bus. The Stagecoach 18 bus stop is situated just outside the car park entrance and goes directly to Waterside. The fare is £2 single pay on bus, contactless or Stagecoach app. The bus journey takes 10 – 15 minutes and runs frequently between 07:00 – 19:57.

Accessibility

Find information about the Accessibility of these car parks on the AccessAble website:

Sunley Hotel

Guests at the Sunley Hotel are entitled to free parking for the duration of their stay only on a first come first served basis. Please note that we cannot guarantee car parking spaces and advise that you pre-book your parking through the Hotel with your room booking.

Parking Payment

Payment and parking is linked via the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system so there is no need to display a ticket in your vehicle. To top up parking, users will either need to revisit the payment machine or use the RingGo facility. If the payment machine is not working, please utilise another machine in an alternative car park, the Senate reception at Waterside or use the RingGo phone/app/website facility.

RingGo Payment Option

All users can pay for parking at any University site via RingGo – RingGo is a pay by phone option with phone number, app and website (meaning it can also be used from desktop). The University has one code that covers all sites – 24700.

RingGo charge an obligatory ‘convenience fee’ of 20p per transaction, so please consider this when you choose your payment preference.

In addition, RingGo automatically registers you for text messaging alerts at an additional 20p – this can be cancelled in your settings, visit the help pages and select ‘opt in/out of text messages’. RingGo does allow for easy remote top up parking – if you are overstaying you can top up your parking fee remotely, otherwise you would need to re-visit the payment machine.
