Replacement Certificates and Transcripts

A degree certificate is the official award document confirming your degree. You may only hold one copy of your original certificate at any one time. We are only able to issue a replacement if the original has been lost or destroyed. If you still have the original certificate, even if it is not available (e.g. it is in storage or a frame on the wall) a duplicate cannot be issued.

A transcript lists the titles, grades and credit values of the modules you studied and successfully completed in each academic year. You may order as many replacement transcripts as required.

Before purchasing any replacement documents please make sure you read the information below:

  • We are unable to produce replacement certificates and transcripts for any awards conferred prior to 1 January 1990.
  • We are unable to guarantee the production of replacement certificates and transcripts for awards conferred prior to September 2005. We advise that you still purchase the replacement documents required and we will do our best to fulfil your request. If we are unsuccessful, we will refund your order in full and advise of anything we may be able to provide in the absence of a certificate or transcript.
  • If you require a replacement certificate or transcript for Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate awards conferred prior to 1997, you will need to contact Pearson (formerly Edexcel and BTEC).
  • If your award was processed by City and Guilds you will also need to approach them directly.
  • Please be advised that we are not able to process any retrospective awards for students who studied with us more than 10 years ago. Instead, it may be possible to provide a copy of your Student Results Record which would include your modules and grades. If this is not available due to limitations with the records we hold, we may be able to provide a verification letter as an alternative, which will confirm the course you were enrolled on and in which academic year/s. The letter would not state which modules you studied or their course content, as unfortunately in some cases we no longer have this information available to us. Verification letters need to be purchased from our online shop. We recommend that you contact certification@northampton.ac.uk before placing any orders, so that we can advise you what (if anything) we are able to do for you.
