Staff Profile

  • Onur’s background is in interdisciplinary social sciences, with a BA in Sociology and History (University of Toronto), and an MA in Social and Political Thought (University of Sussex).

    His PhD dissertation was an examination of classical and contemporary historical materialist treatments of the notion transition among and across societies, completed at the University of Birmingham.

    Onur’s current research includes studies of social change and historical temporality, and seeks to propose viable theoretical frames for a general theory of socio-political transition.

  • Onur is a social theorist specialising in social movements and contemporary political philosophy. His interests include Western Marxism, temporality, party politics and social movements. His work focuses on questions of social and political transition in general, and the prospects of ‘post-neoliberal’ transition in particular.
