Dr Sallek Yaks Musa is a Lecturer in Criminology. Prior to his appointment, he taught Criminology and Security Studies at the University of Jos, Nigeria where he led and contributed to the development of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also led the exams unit in the department. He is interested and active in international research interest around the theories and general field of civil-military relations, security, peace and conflict, governance, armed groups, and human rights. He is a member of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society, and South African Sociological Association and is currently serving as a reviewer for some internationally reputed journals. Sallek was a postdoctoral research fellow in the University of Stellenbosch, was a recipient of fellowships from the Next Generation Africa Social Sciences Research Council (SSRC) New York, and Lisa Maskel Doctoral Research Fellowships, Germany. He has immense practical field experience in humanitarian security risk management working with international non-profit and development organisations in hostile environments.
