A roundup of media mentions of students, staff and the University over the past two weeks.

Last week saw post-16 exam results published in England and Wales and students celebrated their results – such as those in this Educate Mag article – or contacted Clearing helplines if they need advice about course or university options.

The Spalding Voice announced where some of their high-achieving students would go to university, including Northampton for Archie Arnold who will study Professional Policing. The Newark Advertiser and Northampton Chronicle and Echo featured similar articles.

Chief Operating Officer Becky Bradshaw updated BBC Northampton about how many Clearing calls had been taken and completed by the Clearing team. Olivia Phillips from our Schools and Colleges Liaison team spoke to BBC Radio Northampton and NLive Radio about what Clearing involves.

Heart FM Bedford also reported that Milton Keynes College student Bryony will come to UON in September to study psychology (listen again links not available).

Ahead of the international conference from the University and the Academy for #Dementia Research and Education, Prof. Jackie Parkes updated UK Health Radio about the event and her other dementia research and innovation projects.

The Cotswold Journal reports that Associate Professor Dr Kimberley Hill has been awarded prestigious title of National Teaching Fellow.

Senior Lecturer in Acting & Drama Owain Rose has penned reviews of various plays being staged at the Edinburgh Festival, including one that features in Theatre Week.

Hayley Masters starting working for the health service as a cleaner, but has worked her way up to becoming a cancer specialist, having recently graduated from the University’s Healthcare Practice course, as reported by ITV Central News (watch again link is not available).

University teams have been conducting surveys of butterflies at Waterside Campus and BBC Northampton’s Akylah Rodriguez dropped by to find out more from Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science Dr Janet Jackson. This news also featured on the BBC’s website.

It was International Youth Day recently and the theme covered the environment and sustainability issues. Sustainability is part of our Youth and Community Leadership MA and Programme Lead Victoria Boulton spoke with BBC Northampton about how the course helps professionals support young people in these areas. Senior Lecturer in Strategy and International business Adrian Pryce’s Open4Buisness show was back on NLive after a summer break. He looked back at one of his highlights of the summer, Picnic in the Park, a ‘Proms in the Park’ style event with the Northampton Male Voice Choir, Gus Brass Band with support from West Northants Council and The Community Foundation.
