I enjoyed that the University of Northampton offers a blended approach to learning. It provided me with the tools to work in a team, to think creatively, and how to apply this to my work, as well as beneficial resources and how to find these for research and assignments. All these skills were then transferred over to my industry experience.
I recently completed an international training internship for Marriott in the US. This gave me the ability to both travel and work, and I was able to work in many departments within the resort where I could use the skills I’d gained during my postgraduate studies.
If I was to pass on one piece of advice to future International Tourism Development MA students, it would be to make the most of the resources provided by the University. I received lots of help from the Student Futures team, particularly the Career Development Coaches, who helped me tailor my CV to the industry and the roles within it. I was able to arrange in-person and virtual meetings to prepare me for job interviews, and this also helped me to be ready for my graduate internship.
