Directorate of Research and Knowledge Exchange Support Programme

The Directorate of Research and Knowledge Exchange Support Programme, supported by funding allocations from Research England (QR, HEIF) is delivering a suite of funding calls to support the development of research and knowledge exchange across the institution, and to build capability to work with research users, policy makers and communities to bring about meaningful change in society.

Purpose of Support Programme

Key aims of the programme include:

  • Supporting the environment in which research and knowledge exchange can flourish
  • To support engagement and impact activities which will help you to generate, enhance and accelerate the impact of your research, and evidence the impact of your research
  • To support the next generation of talented researchers delivering on innovative research
  • To support researchers to link effectively with policy research priorities and opportunities, regional through to international engagement
  • To support collaboration and projects with non-academic partners, including local, regional, national and international organisations (including central government and their agencies, devolved administrations, local government, health and education bodies, the justice system and other regulatory organisations), businesses and communities (including formal and informal community groups). Academic partners are also permitted as long as the main partner is non-academic.

What’s on offer

Six categories of support are available:

1.      Engagement for Growth – maximum value £10,000

2.      Increasing/Developing Impact 

3.      Innovation and Commercialisation – maximum value £20,000

4.      Policy Engagement

5.      Public and Community Engagement – maximum value £8,000

6.      Small Grants Scheme for Early Career Researchers – maximum value £5,000

Important dates
  • Application deadline is 4pm, 23 September 2024.
  • All projects must finish by 31 July 2025.
