Students are developing an ‘arcade-style game’ as part of the build up to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. Yahoo! Sports and BBC Online report this has been commissioned by West Northamptonshire Council.

The University hosted this year’s ‘good mental health under one roof’ event Headfest, from partners BBC Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust. The event was covered extensively by BBC online (and here) and BBC Radio in Northampton, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, Sussex and Three Counties.

Professor of Sports Medicine Bill Ribbans was on Talk TV’s Sunday Night Club. He spoke with host Mark Saggers about football injuries and cycling champ Sir Chris Hoy’s prostate cancer diagnosis. Watch again (starts 57mins and 40secs in).

Associate Professor for Sustainable Development Dr Ebenezer Laryea is in Ghana for a sustainability event, talking about the shift toward a green economy and the need to reduce plastic use, as reported by Joy FM online and Ghana News Agency.

A new company has joined the University-led Northampton Sustainability Accord. Corby-based See Limited will use the opportunity to continue to reduce its carbon emissions, as reported by UK News Group.

Dr Anthony Stepniak appeared on Heart FM and LBC Radio talking about the death of pop star, artist and former One Direction band member Liam Payne. Listen again.

A collaboration between our Psychology and Education teams and national charity Kidscape that includes anti-bullying training for students is reported by the Northants Telegraph and Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

Research from the University’s Associate Professor Dr Declan Ryan has helped create a new walking route, part of the Active Quarter to encourage more physical activity in the town. This was reported by Highways News and Northants Life.

Our Business Engagement Officers are profiled in a Business Times article, about how they bridge the gap between the University and industry, engaging with businesses to understand their needs and to help provide solutions to challenges faced.

Research from the University about teachers, their resilience and how this impacts the vocation for their profession is reported by the Northants Telegraph.

Students from our Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics for the Stage and Screen course have been busy lending their time and skills to prepare actors for Royal & Derngate’s production of Shrek: The Musical, as reported by the Northants Telegraph and Northampton Chronicle & Echo.
