The University of Northampton appealed to me as it was a modern university and it’s close to my home – it’s only a one-hour drive away.

I also felt that it offered a good environment for the course – I didn’t want to feel like I was just a number in a big lecture room, and I’ve always worked better when my lecturers/teachers know my name and who I am. At times I can find it hard to focus or give an input in lessons, so being in a condensed class with lecturers that know me has always been a much better and more welcoming environment for me.

My career goal is to work in the NHS and I think studying at UON will help me achieve this once I graduate because it’s enabled me to understand the physiology of the body – mainly from a sport aspect, but this can also lead to a wide range of job opportunities in other areas.

In particular, the skills and knowledge/understanding gained on my degree that I feel will be most useful in my future career are physiology, nutrition and speaking skills.

The advice I would give to undergraduates interested in this career path would be to always demonstrate that you want more – whether it’s at a placement or by seeking help from your lecturers.

So far, my UON experience has been amazing.
