Events Management students to organise a masquerade party to raise cancer awareness

Date 29.01.2016

Four second year Events Management students at the University of Northampton are using their skills to organise and manage a charity event in aid of raising awareness of breast and testicular cancer.

Niki Zacharia, Letisha Swamy, Emily Pullan and Adrianna Zielinska have teamed up with two student charity teams; CoppaFeel! and CheckEmLads, to host the Masquerade Party, which will take place on Thursday 28 January at Elysium nightclub in Northampton town centre.

Tickets will be sold at various prices online and can be purchased through Eventbrite, around campus and on the door on the evening. The proceeds will be split between the two charities.

Niki commented: “This event has helped us all develop our personal skills which is highly important in the field of Events Management, and through the planning process we have all been given the opportunity to network and obtain contacts for future events.”

Emily said: “As a team, we have come together and managed to make decisions, delegate roles and responsibilities and solve problems that have occurred throughout the organisation process and this will help us in the future.”

Letisha said: “This event not only benefits us with our course, but also raises awareness for two very important causes. This is also the first event we are aware of that supports breast and testicular cancer at the same time and it will allow people to understand more about cancer in a friendly environment.”

Adrianna commented: “We would like to bring the Northampton community together by combining the University with the town which is why the event is open to the public as well.”
