Staff Profile

  • Julie began her nursing career in 1994 after completing a diploma in adult nursing with University of Bedfordshire. She went on to complete BA (Hons) Specialist Community Practitioner qualification and later onto Independent Prescribing, Practice Education and specialist End of Life Care qualifications with University of Northampton. 

    Throughout her years in District Nursing, Julie developed a passion for nurse education and the development of advanced roles within healthcare.  Julie joined the University in 2013 as an associate lecturer and commenced her current role as a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Nursing in April 2015.  Julie maintains clinical relevance and keeps her practice skills updated by working clinically in Primary Care as an advanced practitioner alongside her UON work commitments.

     

  • Julie is the Programme lead for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and Programme Lead for Non-Medical Prescribing.   She offers personal academic tutor support for students across the duration of these programmes and within the Advanced Practice suite of modules.

    In addition, she teaches or provides support on the following modules:

    • NUR3015P non-medical prescribing at level 6
    • NURM080 Advanced Assessment and Clinical Reasoning
    • NURM081 Diagnostic Reasoning for Practice
