Saddle up for Silverstone charity bike ride
Date 7.03.2016
7.03.2016An evening bike ride around the Silverstone Formula 1 circuit to raise funds for a county charity has been organised by a group of final year students at Northampton Business School.
This is the fifth year in succession our Events Management students have organised the event, which raises funds for Northamptonshire Parent Infant Partnership (NorPIP), a charity which helps parents form strong bonds and positive relationships with their baby.
The NorPIP Bike Ride will take place on Friday 25 March from 3pm to 7pm, and for the first time, the event will make full use of the 3.66-mile Grand Prix circuit. There will also be an indoor family fun day in the Silverstone Wing building.
“Working in partnership with NorPIP and Silverstone provides our final year students with such a valuable experience,” said Claire Leer, Programme Leader of the BA Events Management degree course.
“The students have worked so hard to make this the biggest and best event we’ve hosted, which will include more activities for families on and off the track.”
Louise Danielczuk, NorPIP fundraising co-ordinator, added: “Our partnership with the University of Northampton is a long-standing one, and the students this year are working tirelessly to ensure the success of the event.”
All proceeds will go to NorPIP, which offers intensive therapeutic counselling to Northamptonshire families who are struggling to form a secure bond with their babies. Referrals to the charity are often by health visitors, midwives and other professionals, but anyone can refer themselves for support.
Tickets start at just £7 for children and £20 for adults. Family tickets cost £45 and team tickets (six-to-10 people) for £12.50 per adult. Spectators can come free of charge.
The cycle ride is open to anyone wearing a helmet over the age of seven, and under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
