Additional Student Support and Inclusion Services Team (ASSIST)

Who is ASSIST?

Our Additional Student Support and Inclusion Services Team (ASSIST) works with students with disabilities to help achieve their full potential and to promote equal opportunities. ASSIST aims to enable students to access all aspects of university life, take control of their learning and develop the skills needed for employment. This is underpinned by a commitment to accessibility and respect for confidentiality.

ASSIST provides support for students with:

• physical impairments
• sensory impairments
• mental health difficulties
• medical conditions, for example epilepsy
• Autistic spectrum disorders
• specific learning difficulties, for example dyslexia

Our team provides a range of services, including support and guidance for dyslexia, autism, epilepsy and other conditions for all new and current students, staff and parents.

Drop-in Sessions (term-time only)

The ASSIST drop-in runs every weekday (term-time only) between 11am and 1pm in LH009, which is situated behind the Student Information Desk in the Learning Hub.

You don’t need to be registered with ASSIST to attend our drop-in.  If you would like to speak to a member of ASSIST about what support is available at this time, or you are encountering a difficulty with your studies, book a slot to have a confidential one-to-one discussion with a member of the team.  You might be registered already and just want to check in with us for a chat and to let us know how you are getting on.  Whatever the reason, we look forward to speaking with you.
