From body art to textile print: Brooke shows her collection at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week

Date 7.06.2016

Tattoos and body art were the inspiration behind University of Northampton student Brooke Ferrison’s print designs for this year’s Graduate Fashion Week.

The 21-year old BA (Hons) Textiles for Fashion student has found that creating her final year project has peaked her interest in a career in print design after she graduates. She has been working with silk, suede and wool and has produced a contemporary and minimalist collection with flowing garments, such as maxi shirts and culottes.

She said: “It’s been a learning curve going from the 2D design stage to a 3D garment and in the six months I have been working on my collections, there have been many changes and alterations to my designs.

“I decided on a career in the fashion industry and completed an Art Foundation course before coming to the University of Northampton. I liked that we could sample the textiles and footwear pathways, as well as fashion and it helped me decide what suited me the most. I have now decided that I want to go into textiles and print designing when I graduate.”

Brooke’s work will be featured along with other students from a variety of courses from the School of The Arts at this year’s Degree Show. This will be running from Saturday 11 to Sunday 19 June at the University’s Avenue Campus.
