Dawn hits the catwalk with her cashmere collection at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week

Fashion student Dawn Reed is one of the chosen 16 to take part in the University of Northampton’s catwalk show at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week.

The 21-year-old from Northampton has used cashmere to create her luxurious final collection which is themed around hidden details and having to look twice at something so you see it in a different way. Dawn was able to fund her collection after winning a business entrepreneur grant through Santander.

She said: “I entered the competition with two of my friends and we had the opportunity to attend a short business course, then we submitted a plan, set up our business, which was an online platform offering graduate students a place to sell their final collections and pitched to Santander. It was great that we won as thins has meant that I could afford more expensive materials like cashmere for my final collection and I’m hoping this will make my pieces stand out from the crowd.

““I decided to focus on complex pattern cutting as my theme, so this was my main focus and challenge.

“I chose the University of Northampton for the work space that each student gets, as well as the one-to-one tutor time. It’s also great that we are guaranteed to use all the equipment too and get all the help we need.”

Brooke’s work will be featured along with other students from a variety of courses from the School of The Arts at this year’s Degree Show. This will be running from Saturday 11 to Sunday 19 June at the University’s Avenue Campus.
