University backs national charity launch

NorPIP, The Northamptonshire Parent Infant Project, was launched in September 2011. Based in Towcester it was founded by Conservative MP for South Northamptonshire Angela Leadsom.

The first NorPIP conference ‘The Social Consequences of Poor Infant Attachment’ was hosted by Whittlebury Park Golf and Country Club and attracted delegates from

University of Northampton’s Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Petford gave the welcome address. The event, from arranging speakers to catering, was wholly organised by seven final year students from the University’s Events Management degree course.

‘The Social Consequences of Poor Infant Attachment’ underlined the importance of supporting parents of very young children (from conception to two years old).

PIPUK was launched at the conference and my aim is see ‘PIPs’ like NORPIP established all over the country.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all our speakers and delegates for a superb conference. I would also like to say a special thank you to Whittlebury Park for hosting us, the University of Northampton for sponsoring and my Mum and her team of excellent undergraduates from the University of Northampton for organising a brilliant event!

The event attracted film crews from Sky News, BBC Look East and Anglia TV. University Event Management students were interviewed live on BBC Radio Northampton to explain their long term project planning the prestigious conference.
