Northampton graduates take their fashion global
Date 10.03.2017
10.03.2017Two fashion graduates from the University of Northampton had the opportunity to showcase their designs to around 10,000 students at Amity University in Noida, India.
Jessica Jeffs and Alice Chambers graduated in 2016 and had the privilege of being invited to the show, which took place on Thursday 9 February so they could see their final year collections on the catwalk.
Jessica’s Inuit-inspired collection featured lots of fur and silk while Alice’s concentrated on lots of different leathers, as well as suedes and silks to create the idea of cities submerged under the sea.
The fashion show was part of the 17th Annual Research Conference and Business Summit – ‘INBUSH ERA World Summit 2017’ which aims to highlight the cross collaborations between both the University of Northampton and Amity University. The universities work in partnership to offer University of Northampton degrees by franchise agreement, which include BA (Hons) Fashion.
Emmeline Child, Senior Lecturer in Fashion, commented: “We presented seven of our graduate collections on the catwalk, but Jessica and Alice were the only ones to attend the show. It was great for them to be able to showcase their work internationally along with the fashion students from Amity University.”
