MBA graduate published in top academic journal

Filipe collaborated with Professor Nada Kakabadse and senior Lecturer Adrian Pryce on the research paper, which will be included as a chapter in: Kakabadse, A. And Van den Berghe, L. (Eds.) Making Boards Work: An International Overview, Palgrave, London (forthcoming). A second article is also under construction.

The research uses a single case study to consider the relation between income inequality and corporate performance. The research applies the co-variance formula to build a Corporate Gini Index (CGI) for a multinational plc and correlates it with several corporate performance measures representing a variety of stakeholders.

Professor Nada Korac-Kakabadse, Head of Doctoral Programme and Filipe’s thesis supervisor explained: “Filipe undertook empirical research, which is the first of its kind. He used macro level measures and analysis, the Gini index, which he has applied at the level of the enterprise.”

Filipe completed his MBA part-time with Northampton Business School, and he feels that studying in Northampton gave him the confidence and the opportunity to successfully apply for a PhD programme at the University of Reading’s Henley Business School.
