New art shop turns heads at Avenue Campus
Date 13.11.2015
13.11.2015This fantastic and permanent facility will provide students with a dynamic, vibrant, contemporary and quality environment in which to purchase all of their arts materials.
Located on the lower ground floor of the Maidwell building near the main refectory area, The Art Shop will be open during term-time from 10am to 3pm and is a joint venture with the Students’ Union who will run the shop on a day-to-day basis.
Gayle Sadler, School Manager for the School of The Arts, commented: “The aim of the project was to create a tangible, feel-good shopping experience in quality surroundings; something that we feel we have definitely achieved.”
Tim Joaquim, President of the Students’ Union and a former School of the Arts student, said: “The Students’ Union is delighted to be working in partnership with the School of The Arts in order to bring our students a permanent, modern and comprehensive array of art supplies. For the past year students have been telling us through Facebook, Twitter and their Student Reps that they need an affordable art shop on site and The Art Shop will provide just that. This project is a fantastic example of the power of the student voice at the University of Northampton.”
For the first two weeks and as a special opening promotion, customers will receive a £3 voucher on their next purchase when £30 or more is spent.
There will be an official opening of The Art Shop at 1pm on Monday 15 April, which all staff and students are welcome to attend!
