The University of Northampton welcomes visitors from Hungary to experience its social enterprise ventures

​The University of Northampton welcomed a group of visitors from Hungary on 17 May, who were interested in learning more about UN’s social enterprise ventures for their own development purposes.

Ágnes Lukács, Isstvan Joós, Judit Varga and Krisztina Molnár, from the Local Measure Foundation in Budapest, spent a day on campus immersing themselves in the various social enterprise ventures the University has to offer including a visit to see one of the social enterprises that the University has supported; Goodwill Solutions. The aim of their visit was to particularly focus on how the initiatives are supported and developed so they can adapt them to help budding social entrepreneurs back in Hungary.

One of the visitors, Krisztina Molnár commented: “It has been useful to see the social enterprise models that the University of Northampton has and it’s been good to talk to people and listen to different stories and views in such an inspiring environment.

“Our main focus now is to build our own social enterprise start-up agency, which is what we are working on this year, with research, study trips and meeting different people. People in Hungary aren’t brave enough to start their own businesses and we want to be able to help them with funding so they can start to build something.”

Lynn Finn, Head of Careers and Employability Service for the University of Northampton’s Centre for Employability and Engagement commented: “It was a truly wonderful day, not only for the visitors who learned about our work but also for staff within the University who were able to learn from each other and increase their knowledge and understanding of what makes our University a leader in the field on social innovation and entrepreneurship.”
