University of Northampton makes new connections in Uppsala, Sweden
Date 13.11.2015
13.11.2015Professor Jon Stobart, Professor of History at the University of Northampton, recently visited the University of Uppsala in Sweden to develop links and networks for future research and student exchange activity.
Professor Stobart took part in an Early Modern Studies Workshop, organised by University of Uppsala programme leader Dr Mikael Alm. The purpose of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for students on their two-year MA programme to discuss their research among themselves, but also with an external expert. Professor Stobart was a keynote speaker at the workshop and the expert panel member for the thesis presentations.
In addition to these formal activities the visit provided an opportunity to discuss opportunities for wider collaboration with faculty members, including joint research. The University of Northampton is now in discussion with Dr Alm about a reciprocal visit in the Spring of 2014, and Professor Stobart is in the process of building a European research network on consumption and the country house.
Speaking about the visit, Professor Stobart noted that: “It has been invaluable in cementing the University’s links with a major centre for historical research in Sweden and in creating potentially important links for our post-graduate students.”
