University reaches new heights at the Lift and Escalator Technologies Symposium

The University of Northampton’s Lift Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers met for the third Symposium on Lift and Escalator Technologies in Northampton on 26 and 27 September 2013.

This symposium brought together students and scientists from across the world’s biggest lift manufacturers to present their latest research and developments in the field.

The University of Northampton and ThyssenKrupp Elevator entered into a partnership agreement in 2012 to create a platform to expand the joint research and development projects that are already being undertaken.

Professor Kamal Bechkoum, Executive Dean of the School of Science and Technology at the University of Northampton, commented: “We are delighted that this prestigious partnership has been forged. In view of the present worldwide interest in the development of safe and cost effective means of vertical transportation in the modern built environment, this is an internationally important cooperation program in the area of lift/escalator engineering.

The partnership demonstrates ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s recognition of the high standards of our research program in this area. It will be mutually beneficial and will lead to increasing research and innovations on both sides, creating safer and more efficient vertical transportation in world class high rise buildings.”
