Date 13.11.2015
13.11.2015Staff and students, both past and present, were invited to an event on Wednesday 2 October to mark 40 years of Psychology at the University of Northampton.
Attendees had the opportunity to revisit some of the historical developments that have taken place within the University’s Psychology department over the last 40 years, as well as reflect past achievements and look towards the future.
This important milestone will serve as a celebratory platform to prepare for the many challenges and opportunities for the Psychology team in the near and distant future.
Catherine Fritz, Gill Penny, Malcolm Walley and David Stewart provided a more formal interlude in the proceedings. The four speakers provided an historical context for the event and described the incredible changes that had taken place over 40 years. Their talks emphasized the capability of Psychology at the University of Northampton to continue to take advantage of new challenges and opportunities.
Dr Graham Mitchell from the Division of Psychology commented: “This celebration to mark the first 40 years of Psychology was a total success. This was a well-attended event with alumni, current students, existing and past University staff, and representatives from local schools and colleges in attendance. There was an opportunity to catch-up with old friends and colleagues, and to learn about the current work of the Psychology team. Many previous staff who could not attend the event sent congratulations and wished us well for the future.”
