New appointments to the University of Northampton’s Senior Management Team

13.11.2015The University of Northampton is pleased to announce some new appointments to the Senior Management Team.
Helen Scott has joined the School of Education as a Deputy Dean from her post as Head of Department for ITE (Initial Teacher Education) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Partnerships at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Having previously taught art and design in secondary, further and higher education, Helen’s past roles have also included Head of the School of Secondary and Post-compulsory Initial Professional Studies, Programme Leader for the MA in Education and Course Leader for the Secondary PGCE Art & Design at the University of Cumbria. Helen is currently completing a PhD on critical studies in secondary art and design education; she has presented research papers and written books on teachers’ professional development, mentoring and coaching, guidance for student teachers on classroom-based research and issues in art and design education.
Dr Mairi Watson has been appointed Deputy Dean (Development) at Northampton Business School (NBS) and will be working closely with Jacky Holloway, Deputy Dean (Student Experience).
Mairi’s previous roles include Head of Corporate and Postgraduate Programmes at NBS and Director of Corporate Programmes and Principal Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at Leicester Business School, De Montfort University. She is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and an Academic Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
In her new role as Deputy Dean, Mairi has strategic responsibility for the leadership of research, the design and development of NBS portfolio including corporate and online programmes, postgraduate and undergraduate provision, enterprise activity and international and other partnerships. She also leads on marketing and recruitment within the School. Her research interests include managerial identity and policy implementation in constrained circumstances.
Moira Ingham has been appointed Dean of the School of Health. A nurse by profession, Moira trained in London on the graduate-entry programme at St Thomas’ Hospital and thereafter worked in several NHS trusts in the south and east of England, specialising in critical and high dependency care and ultimately managing a 35 bedded respiratory medicine unit.
She began working in education over 20 years ago, gained her MSc at Kings College, and joined the University of Northampton in 1999 to lead the national curriculum pilot of ‘Making a Difference’ for pre-registration nurses. Her next post was as Principal Lecturer in Practice Development, then becoming Head of Academic Affairs, a key quality role at the University. She was then promoted to Associate Dean and later gained an 18 month secondment to lead the establishment of the East Midlands HIEC. On successful completion of the project Moira returned as Deputy Dean in 2011, becoming Dean of the School of Health in August 2013. She is currently studying for a DBA in Higher Education Management at the University of Bath.
