Development approval

The University Management Team has the responsibility, on behalf of Senate, for considering the principles, risk, resource implications and impact upon other areas of the University arising from new academic developments. The Development Approval Handbook describes the University’s processes by which its Senate can be assured that additions and deletions to its academic portfolio have been planned and evaluated in relation both to the business and market case and strategic fit.

Following approval in principal of the business and market case proposals for new programmes are progressed through the validation process.

Proposals for new academic collaborations in programme delivery progress through stages of risk assessment and due diligence from initial conception to final approval.

For further guidance on the stages of risk assessment and due diligence preceding and following development approval see the Partnership Handbook.
