Programme and Module Specifications
Module Specifications
The definitive records for all modules within the University Modular Framework (UMF) are in the form of Module Specifications. These conform to a standard template and include the following key information:
- Module Title and Code
- Delivery locations
- Pre-requisites, co-requisites and restrictions
- Supplementary regulations affecting the module
- Description and indicative content
- The module-level Learning Outcomes
- Learning and teaching methods for the module
- Assessment structure and criteria.
Module Specifications are key documentation in the approval of new courses via validation. They are monitored and amended via Annual Review and Change of Approval processes respectively and undergo Periodic Subject Review on a five yearly cycle. All Module Specifications are maintained by the Curriculum Team who can be contacted at curriculum@northampton.ac.uk. Every effort is made to ensure that the most up to date Module Specifications are available online for staff, students and other stakeholders wherever possible but it should be noted these may be subject to amendment.

Course Specifications
The definitive records for all course within the University Modular Framework (UMF) are in the form of Course Specifications. These conform to a standard template and include the following key information:
- Award Title
- Relevant QAA Subject Benchmarking group
- Course-level educational aims and Learning Outcomes
- Learning and teaching methods for the course
- Admissions criteria
- Support for learning
- Evaluation and quality enhancement

Module Catalogue
Most of the course at the University of Northampton are organised within UMF, which regulates taught courses leading to awards. Each course within UMF is comprised of individual units of study (the modules), each with their own credit rating. The Module Catalogue provides an overview of these modules arranged according to subject or discipline areas and level. While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the information in this catalogue, the University cannot guarantee to offer modules as described, and the content or assessment strategy may be subject to amendment. Please also note that if a module does not appear within this catalogue then it may have been suspended.
