    Description: Health professionals who work autonomously are at the forefront of transforming how health services are delivered and their skills, knowledge and experience are central to achieving this outcome (Malone, 2005). The authority to work autonomously is derived from practice that has a sound educational base plus the ability to apply theoretical concepts to the provision of high quality care. Health professionals undertaking this module will be practicing in a variety of settings where they may be required to undertake physical and psychosocial assessments of patients/clients. This module is designed to enable them to acquire the knowledge and skills required to undertake a comprehensive patient/client history and to use enhanced assessment skills to describe, document and report their observations and findings.

This module will enable HCPs to develop confidence in effectively assessing and applying evidenced based research and decision making skills, when managing a range of minor illnesses and injuries in a variety of settings.
