From medieval castles to stunning country estates, the region is home to a wealth of historical sites waiting to be explored. In this blog, we’ll take a student perspective and guide you through some of the best historical sites in Northampton/shire, perfect for exploring the national parks, picnics, and local vast spaces in and around the county.

Northampton Castle

Northampton Castle was one of the most important castles in medieval England. The castle was built in the 11th century and was the site of many important historical events, including the trial of Thomas Becket. Today, the castle ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the region’s past and are a must-visit for history enthusiasts.

Althorp Estate

Althorp Estate is a stunning country estate located in the heart of Northampton/shire. The estate has been home to the Spencer family for over 500 years and is steeped in history and tradition.
