Students planning to attend university in September 2023 find themselves asking 101 questions right now:
- ‘I’ve submitted my application, what happens next?’
- ‘Help! I’m not even sure about which uni to choose!’
- ‘I can’t decide which subject to pick – I keep changing my mind!’
Wherever you are in the process, don’t worry
Whether or not you’ve hit ‘submit’ on your application, there are still loads of opportunities to find out more.
1. Come along to one of our Discovery Days
You’ll receive an invite to Discovery Days once you’ve applied to UON. Each one of these invite-only events during February, March and April is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet tutors and students. You’ll also get the chance to chat to experts about finance, accommodation and student life at UON. And you’re welcome to bring friends or family along for the day.
Keep an eye out for the invite coming through!
2. Join our friendly applicant community
We have a welcoming applicant group on Facebook, where University of Northampton applicants can join to meet their future flatmates, get the latest campus updates, ask questions, and get help.
Join our applicant Facebook group now.
3. Take a virtual tour of campus
A virtual tour is a great way to get to know the campus better before (and after) you visit.
Try it out for yourself by visiting our online virtual tour.
4. Book a tour in person
A student ambassador will guide you round our Waterside campus, showing you the teaching and sports facilities, library, places to eat and where students live and work. Campus tours are usually on a Wednesday. You’re very welcome to bring guests!
Book a campus tour via our website.
5. Browse our degree courses
If you’re undecided which course is for you, grab pen, paper and scroll through our subject hubs and courses – and make a shortlist.
Each course section is packed with details, alongside the qualifications you’ll need to start, and ideas of careers you can go on to do.
6. Register for a virtual Q&A.
We offer helpful live online information sessions throughout the year where you can find out more about specific courses. We call them Living Room Lectures – and they’re a useful starting point if you have questions about a course.

7. Thinking about changing your course?
Contact our admissions team directly by emailing admissions@northampton.ac.uk, or calling 01604 893866, and you can chat through your options.
8. Thinking about grades?
Each course at UON has a different set of entry requirements – usually these are a mix of qualifications, subjects and exam grades.
If you miss your grades, you still have university options:
- You may be offered an integrated foundation year (IFY) – check whether your chosen course offers this foundation option by searching our course catalogue.
- If you want to study at UON but have already used all five of your UCAS choices on UCAS, you can also apply through UCAS Extra.
- If you haven’t been offered a place on a chosen course, you can submit another application through UCAS Extra. UCAS Extra Applications start 25 February.
- You may be able to apply through Clearing from July – Clearing is how universities fill spaces on courses that are still available, and the grades you need may be lower.
