Why I chose the £500 accommodation discount

Once you have accepted your offer to study here at the University of Northampton, full-time UK students are guaranteed one of the three exclusive perks to support you whilst settling into the next step of your academic journey, I personally selected the £500 discount on accommodation as my student perk, as it best suited my needs as a first-year University student. I was actually able to gain money on my maintenance loan to afford necessities, despite expecting to lose money overall, improving my experience as money was not a particular issue.

This popular option provides first-year students living in any university-owned accommodation the opportunity to save a significant amount of money, freeing up funds for other essentials, such as buying course essentials or even food for a few months. Should you choose this perk, a £250 discount is automatically deducted from your payments at the beginning of the second and third semesters.

An advantage to saving money on your accommodation is that it makes the Waterside Student Halls some of the cheapest on-campus university accommodation in the country, which is especially impressive considering the campus is only 6 years old.

Furthermore, if you did not receive enough in your maintenance loan, the discount can help you to avoid financial strain, often making it easier for students to pay their fees without having to worry about money.
