As a student, I quickly learned how demanding it can be to stay on top of coursework, research, and projects. With assignments piling up, reports to write, and exams to study for, having the right equipment can make a huge difference. One of the most unexpected – and honestly, most valuable – perks I’ve had during my time at University of Northampton is receiving a complimentary laptop to support my studies.

At first, I didn’t realise just how much of a game-changer it would be. When I came, I already had a personal laptop, but it was small and very slow, I was very concerned about the fact that it would not take long before I knew I would need a new one. So when I was offered a brand-new laptop to use – completely free of charge – not only was a great surprise, but it honestly felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Whether I was writing a report, or attending an online lecture, it’s fast, responsive, and reliable, never crashed even with thousands of open tabs of research for exam prep! It made multitasking very simple.

My laptop was lightweight which meant it didn’t at all feel bulky or heavy to transport, and its long battery life meant that I could still do work on the go which was extremely important to me as a student who commutes to University.

Let’s be honest – being a student is expensive. Receiving a laptop from the university has helped ease some of that financial pressure. It’s one less thing to worry about, and it’s reassuring to know that the tools I need for success are provided without extra cost.

Having a dedicated laptop for my studies made it so much easier to stay organised. I have been able to keep all my class notes, assignments, and group projects in one place, which means I’m less likely to lose track of things. Which, as someone who can be a scatterbrain, was a huge advantage! Plus, by connecting to Microsoft 365, I have never had to worry about losing important files, and I can access my work from anywhere.

From watching recorded lectures to collaborating on group projects online, the technology makes it easier to stay on top of course material and stay connected with classmates and professors. It’s definitely enhanced my overall learning experience.
