New year New You

As the new year begins, January presents us all with a unique opportunity to hit the reset button and start over. This is the ideal time to set New Year’s resolutions and goals, embrace the season and make the most of what the first month has to offer as this can set the tone for the entire year. Whether you plan to stay indoors because of the chillier days or venture out, here are some exciting things to do this January.

Kickstarting your New Years Resolutions

January is perfect for starting fresh, making it the ideal time to set meaningful achievable goals for the year. If your goal this year is to improve fitness, sign up for the local gyms Northampton has to offer such as “Trilogy Health and Fitness at Cripps” which is only a 10-minute walk from campus, or “Pure Gym” situated in the central hub of town Centre. Moreover, for those who prefer a calmer activity, starting a new hobby like painting or baking or even café hopping can also make this month feel a lot more productive and enjoyable.

Embrace the Winter Season Events

January in the UK is a magical time to enjoy the true beauty that winter has to offer. Whether it is to enjoy the rare snowy days by building snowmen and exploring with your friends, to going ice skating in the famous rinks in London. Winter in the UK is filled with endless events to make the most of the season such as winter theatre productions and many beautiful light displays to enjoy. The new year in January also means big winter sales so this is the perfect time to indulge in some retail therapy as the UK’s winter sales offer huge discounts on almost everything. Whether you want to upgrade your wardrobe for the new year, treat yourself to something special or shop for a loved one, these sales are an excellent opportunity to take advantage of unbeatable discounts.

Declutter and Organise

January is the time to refresh your home and life by getting rid of all the unnecessary items you longer use by either donating it to charity shops, exchanging items with friends or throwing it away to reorganise your living space to feel fresher. Reorganising does not have to be limited to physical spaces, but you could also take initiative to tidy out your digital clutter by sorting through old photos, cleaning out old emails or unsubscribing from email lists that no longer interest you. Furthermore, January being all about starting new you could also take a moment to organise your workspace to be more efficient to do university work and be well prepped for the new academic term.

There are a variety of things which can help keep you occupied or on track during January, a new year brings new beginnings!
