Student Influencers at UON
Becoming a student influencer may seem daunting, but there are multiple perks to being part of this scheme. The student influencers range from working on the UON blogs, to creating vlogs or short videos for UON’s various media channels.
Social Benefits of being a UON influencer
Joining the student influencer programme has helped me develop and expand my social network at the University of Northampton.
This team has allowed me to meet new people and grow my individual confidence.
This opportunity has allowed me to truly put myself out there as every time I post, my name is published on the website and becomes familiar to UON’s audience, plus it’s given me the opportunity to communicate with plenty of new people.
Developing my confidence with not only my writing but in terms of socialising with strangers has allowed me to learn valuable life skills. Furthermore, seeing different experiences through first-hand accounts of fellow peers has allowed me to feel more connected and understood within the University.
Improving my personal development
Not only have my social skills improved, but I have been able to develop my passion for writing in a personal way, not just in an academic way. It’s easy to get engulfed in assignments and lose passion for writing when the majority of what you will write is related to academia.
Being a writer for the UON blog has shown me that I can still write for fun and helps serve as a reminder as to why I began doing it in the first place.
This opportunity has given me the motivation to continue my side projects, that had been easily neglected before.
Academic Benefits of being a UON influencer
Alongside multiple social benefits to being a student influencer, an amazing academic benefit is that of it can be added to your CV. Joining the student influencer programme allows you to boost your experience, including within digital marketing and content creation.
If you are looking for a career in digital marketing or a similar field, becoming a student influencer allows you to get much needed experience that your future employers will love! Even if you’re not looking to work specifically in that area, this team gives you experience, shows future employers that you have teamworking skills, and experience of producing adequate work to deadlines.
