If you want to have a degree that is accredited by the British Psychology Society, so that you have GBC (Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership), then you must major in Psychology, taking the core modules identified here.

Major students must take the core BPS modules PSY2005, PSY2029, PSY2030 and PSY2031, making 80 credits and must take 40 credits in their minor subject to total 120 credits at level 5.
Joint students must take designated modules totalling 60 credits and must take 60 credits in their other subject to total 120 credits at level 5
Minor students must take 40 credits of designated modules not including PSY2005 and must take 80 credits in their major subject to total 120 credits at level 5

∞ PSY2005 is the research methods module for this subject. Please note that only one research methods module can be undertaken as part of a Joint Honours award. If your other chosen subject offers a research methods module an additional designated module must be taken in its place from the second award map.

Major students must take either PSY4001 or PSY4004, and two designated modules making 80 credits and must take 40 credits from their minor subject to total 120 credits at level 6
Major students requiring GBC must take PSY4001 plus two designated modules. Students who complete PSY4004 will achieve “Psychological Studies and other named subject”, not “Psychology and other named subject”.
Joint students must take three designated modules making 60 credits and must take 60 credits from their other subject. Joint students must take a dissertation module from one of their subjects, but may instead also undertake an interdisciplinary dissertation joining both subjects together.
Minor students must take two designated modules making 40 credits and must take 80 credits from their major subject to total 120 credits at level 6

Students who do not complete the Honours Degree will be eligible for an Ordinary Degree in the named subjects upon successful completion of a minimum of 60 Level 6 credits. These can be from any Level 6 modules, whether identified as compulsory or designated. Where the completed Level 6 credits are from one subject area only, the award title will be Ordinary Degree X WITH Y.  Where the completed Level 6 credits are from both subject areas, the award title will be either Ordinary Degree X WITH Y or Ordinary Degree X AND Y depending on the degree on which the student registered.
