James’ PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education (from Oxford Brookes, secured between 2006/2007), and his expertise in social science theory and research/practice, provides an excellent foundation for his teaching. He has taught social science at both Higher Education (HE – including undergraduate and postgraduate) level at the University of Northampton (UON), and Further Education (FE) level at Northampton College (NC) for around 20 years; working on different programmes for a variety of social science subjects/teams – including sociology, criminology, politics, media and psychology; re-validating/reviewing the Ba (hons.) Sociology programme and validating an MSc in Public Sociology, both at the University of Northampton; and creating, developing, coordinating, delivering and assessing an extensive range of different general and specialist modules. James was Head of Sociology at NC between 2008-2011, has been a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for UON Sociology since 2016, and has been Deputy Subject Leader for the UON Psychology and Sociology Subject Group since 2018. He receives consistently excellent student feedback and has a high score on rate my lecturer.
