I qualified as a Learning Disability (LD) Nurse in 1983 and worked in various settings with people with LD until 2001 when I completed the post-registration Child Nurse training.
Following this I worked in a NHS Drug & Alcohol service then Community CAMHS.
Having always supported student nurses within my roles I became a Placement Facilitator within NHFT before joining UON as a LD Lecturer in Practice Development.
During the pandemic I returned to practice for just under 2 years setting up a LD nurse post across a charity in Milton Keynes.
Having now semi-retired I am working as an Associate Lecturer where I support students placed within schools and on the Waterside placement and student led community project.
I’m really enjoying being able to continue with my career which I am very passionate about whilst having time to (hopefully) travel and socialise more.
