  • Current Research:

Promise’s current research is focusing on collaborative diabetology between oral healthcare providers (dental professionals) and medical practitioners (i.e. physicians, nurses, dietitians etc). The title of his doctorate is a person-centred common behavioural intervention for type 2 diabetes mellitus management and periodontal disease prevention and management in people living with type 2 diabetes mellitus. His research is exploring whether using a behavioural intervention (health coaching and/or motivational interviewing) as a common risk factor approach to managing diabetes mellitus can prevent and /or manage periodontal (gum) disease in type two diabetes patients.

    Research Interest:

Promise is open to research across the width and breadth of oral health and public health, particularly in dental public health. Promise has a special interest in collaborative diabetology (stomatodiabetology in particular), and/or collaborative oral health care for diabetes patients;  multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary oral health care, and community oral health.
