Floatation Tank
A flotation tank (also known as a sensory deprivation tank or isolation tank) is a lightless, soundproofed tank filled with highly concentrated Epsom salt water heated to skin temperature, which allows participants to float weightlessly in silence and darkness. The flotation tank has various applications, from potential therapeutic/restorative effects, such as inducing deep relaxation to influencing creativity, concentration, consciousness studies, parapsychological research, and sports injury rehabilitation. The tank, which is set up for set periods of the year, is primarily used for funded research, therefore, students may have the opportunity to use it as participants or research assistants. If there is spare capacity then students may be able to use it under supervision.
