Ben de Lisi, Mademoiselle Robot and Lypsyl give kiss of approval to Northampton Fashion student

Date 11.11.2015

Vicky Fallon topped the entries from students at universities around the country, to be named the winner by the panel of judges – top designer Ben de Lisi and influential fashion blogger Laetitia Wajnapel (Mademoiselle Robot).

Entrants were set the challenge to create an innovative fashion item that encompassed the young, retro, friendly feel of the Lypsyl®brand.

Vicky’s winning design – of a lip inspired jacket and fruity leggings – was praised by the judges, with Ben de Lisi commenting that:

The ensemble is young, fun, confident and sassy, sexy but chic, young but not juvenile. It’s been fantastic to work with Lypsyl®, an iconic British brand that has been a beauty staple for the last 30 years, to unearth fresh new British talent.

Vicky was thrilled when told of the news

I can’t believe I won, I never expected it. I come from a creative family and have always loved fashion, the £1,000 prize will really help towards the final year of my degree.

Laetitia Wajnapel felt that Vicky had really pushed the competition further as she designed a whole outfit rather than just one item, and said:

Vicky’s design has a flirty retro feel that works well to represent the Lypsyl, brand. The jacket would work with all sorts of outfits, even more casual ones.

Lypsyl’s brand manager added that “This competition was created to showcase up and coming talent within the UK and we were really pleased that the young designers managed to encapsulate the brief, which was to incorporate the young at heart, retro and friendly feel of the Lypsyl brand. It was a tough task to pick the winner!”
