Celebrating our newest graduates and professors

11.05.2023More than 1,400 students ‘crossed over the stage’ to become graduates at the University of Northampton’s (UON) spring Graduation ceremonies.
Six ceremonies were held at Royal & Derngate over two days for 1,428 graduates, more than 3,076 guests, supported by more than 200 staff who took part in the traditional procession route to the main stage.
This year, the University celebrated its newest professors and those that attended were Shaowei He (International Business), Will Wise (Leather Science), Eunice Lumsden (Child Advocacy) and Jane Murray (Education).
Some students crossed the Derngate stage for a second time to receive the following awards and certificates of achievement. Their citations can be found here.
Law/LLB
Winner of the Julia Pick Memorial Award, Tracy Afriyie.
Winner of the Max Engel Memorial Bursary, Ian Doddemeade.
Doctor of Business Administration
Winner of the Doctoral Research Award, Othman Alyafei.
BA Advertising and Digital Marketing
Winner of the Dean’s Award, Creagh Crewe.
BSc Enhancing Healthcare Practice
Winner of the A&S Hero Award, Hayley Masters.
BSc Midwifery
Winner of the Julie Quilter Award for commitment to Midwifery Excellence, Hauwa Hamza.
MSc Advanced Occupational Therapy
Commended for Commitment to Promoting Occupational Therapy, Breanna Wagner.
MSc Public Health
Winner of the Academic Excellence Award, Neethi Vijayakumar.
New additions for these ceremonies included course group photos and a ‘guard of honour’ at the end of the ceremony, with processional staff lined up to give a final farewell (for some) round of applause.
