Chance to do good and nab a bargain returns with University pop-up shop

Date 15.10.2024

After raising nearly £8,000 to support disabled children in May, the Newlife pop-up shop returns to the University of Northampton for two days starting Thursday 24 October.

Newlife, The Charity for Disabled Children, provides vital specialist equipment to disabled and terminally ill children across the UK. They also collaborate with renowned high street brands like River Island, The White Company, Ted Baker and more, to offer brand new clothing at discounted prices.

Surplus stock donated by these brands not only extends the lifespan of fashion products but also prevents it from contributing to landfills.

Carole Simpson, Newlife’s Director of Retail and Sustainability, said: “We had some great support from shoppers in May so we thought it was only right to return as soon as possible and give them another chance to grab a bargain while doing something good.

“Exciting new additions include new fashion brands and homeware items, and we’ll also have some vintage pre-loved items available from brands such as Carhartt and Dickies.”

The Newlife Pop-Up Shop will be in the Creative Hub at the University of Northampton’s Waterside Campus, and will be open between 10:00 and 17:00 on Thursday 24 and 10:00-16:00 on Friday 25 October.

As well as the pop-up shop, visitors are welcome to try out the University’s catering outlets, the Waterside Bar (which screens live sports), the Sunley Hotel or they can stretch their legs on the pathway around the campus, visit the Campus sculptures or try out the trim trail if they are feeling energetic.

The Waterside Campus is a short walk from Northampton town centre and can be accessed on foot via the bridge in Beckets Park.

Newlife returns to the Waterside Campus thanks to a partnership between the charity and the University-owned Community Interest Company, Goodwill Solutions, read more about the partnership here.
