Cisco MD and UoN alumnus to share his pathway to corporate success
Date 21.11.2018
21.11.2018A former University of Northampton student who became a leading executive at technology giant Cisco, will give current students top tips to follow in his footsteps.
Kevin Sparks, managing director for Cisco UK Commercial, will track his journey since graduating with a 2:1 in Business Administration to becoming a major name in the IT sector, at an upcoming guest speaker event.
Kevin will be joined at the event by his colleague John Johnson, chief technical officer for Cisco UK Commercial, as they hold panel questions and ‘mock’ interviews with students to offer students industry and employability tips.
Louise Atkinson, Senior Lecturer in Business, said: “This event is centred on employability – specifically in the IT Industry. It promises to be exciting as Kevin is alumnus of the University, when it was formerly known as Nene College, so this will be very relatable for our students. It will help students understand Kevin’s personal journey and discover the innovative nature and excitement of the IT Industry.
“The topics and agenda are designed to motivate and inspire our students, as well as give them some practical advice and tips to apply to their own profiles and actions in seeking a graduate role. This will be a chance to explore what employers look at in graduates today for success and help them examine how to make the most of opportunities in employment.”
The event will be held in the T-Pod Area, Learning Hub second floor, from 2pm (please arrive at 1.45pm) on Wednesday 28 November.
