22.10.2018Northampton Town FC have put a rallying cry out to university students to come and try their hand at working behind the scenes on a busy match day.
The Cobblers are partnering with shirt sponsors, the University of Northampton, to host a Student Takeover Day at the PTS Academy Stadium on Saturday 2 February 2019.
The fourth annual Student Takeover Day will offer undergraduates the opportunity to experience life behind the scenes with the club’s commercial and media teams, shadow the stadium manager or help out in the ticket office.
Charlotte Hyams, marketing and events coordinator at Northampton Town FC, said: “This Takeover Day is a fantastic opportunity for students in the town to come and embrace their local team. The day is an ideal opportunity for the students to try out life behind the scenes of a professional football club. We have had many students from the University of Northampton work for us part-time around their studies and they are always really enthusiastic and eager to learn.”
Northampton Town are also currently offering part-time hours to students looking to earn some extra money. Current roles available include programme selling, food kiosk attendants, bar staff and general hospitality.
A Sports Marketing Graduate from the University of Northampton, Charlotte explains that this part-time opportunity is a fantastic first step in a potential career within the sports industry, she adds: “Several students who have worked here have gone on to use their experience working with NTFC to find employment within the sports industry, as well as within other sectors.”
